Feminists - What These Chicks Really Want Keep Equal Standards for Both Sexes Editor Heath Rude Feminists believe in equality between the sexes, right? Well, they believe in equality for women, so I guess that would make them for equality between the sexes about half the time, but this doesn't even seem to be the case. Last year, UNI had to cut two of its sports teams due to budget cuts. They planned to cut one men's team and one women's team. This ticked off the feminists (as many things do) and they challenged the move under Title XI. UNI had to back off because we didn't have the money to go through a lawsuit and consequently, two men's teams were cut and zero women's teams were cut. This is what equality means to these chicks. First, a couple of disclaimers. I support feminists in Russia and any other country where women are truly treated as second-class citizens. I would have also supported feminists a few generations ago when women did not have the opportunity they do now. Today, American and European feminists stand for much different issues. These babes have abandoned the old philosophy of equal rights and have taken up other causes, many of which are very dangerous to the average individual. As for the other disclaimer, I respect women very much as they are an integral and valuable part of my life. I would never refer to a woman as a "babe" or a "chick" because that is disrespectful, unless they are a feminist. Feminists are themselves sexist and they conduct themselves uncivilly, so why not treat them the way they treat others. I would encourage everyone to refer to feminists as "babes" and "chicks" until they start acting properly and abandon their sexist agenda. As for this aricle, "babes" and "chicks" does not refer to women in general or to all feminists around the globe. It only refers to American and European feminists. According to these chicks, my premise of progress is wrong. They still think that women are not given a fair shake and to prove their point they hold rallies and chant "Equal Work, Equal Pay!" or some variation. A common stat that these babes throw out there is that women make $0.67 to every dollar that a man makes for the same job. This stat is misleading because it doesn't take into account experience. Women make approximately $0.97 to every dollar that a man makes for the same job AND if they have the same experience. To counter this oppressive 3-cent disparity, women receive better benefits than men do. Feminists believe that men and women are equally capable at everything, but this is just not the case. Sure men and women should be treated equally, but there are inherent differences in the sexes. To recognize and accommodate for these differences seems sexist to them. As for the question at hand, many believe that all these chicks really want is equality for women, but what do they mean by this? Take our education system for example. Boys, on average, fair better than girls in science and math. This is not equal, so they lobby for lower standards for young women who are interested in these two areas and they lobby for more resources to be available, but only available to girls. This includes summer programs and after school programs. What about the other subjects? It turns out that girls, on average, fair better than boys in all other major subjects. Do you think these chicks would even consider lower standards for young men going into these areas? Of course not. They would be ticked off (yet again) and need Hillary to lead them in a bra burning ceremony to soothe their senses. It all goes back to their general premise that men and women are equal. They don't recognize differences. So if women are not doing as well in an area, it's because of sexism, male dominance, or our "oppressive" culture. It is never as simple as a difference in the sexes. The solution is simple. Keep the same standards for both sexes. If boys are better in math and girls are better in English, so what? Keep things equal. If more men can pass the strength and endurance standards necessary to be a police officer or in the army, so be it. If women perform better in school and therefore more women than men go on to universities, so be it. Don't lower standards to give an image of equality in an effort to cover up our differences, because that's all it will ever be - and image, a mirage, or a false sense of a one sex America. Call it what you want. Finally, never call a woman a feminist. This is one of the most degrading and insulting terms that one would call a woman in modern day America and Europe. Currently only 25% of women identify themselves as feminists (GAllup 2001). Feminism is far more than equal rights. It is an ideology that does not advance equality because feminists only fight for more ipportunity and special treatment for women, even in the areas that women are far better than men. I would never want to join a movement or an organization that would only be interested in more benefits and special treatment for men, because that would be sexist, just as feminism is. So reject the notion of special treatment and lower standards for only one sex and support true equality. Rejecting feminism is the best way our country can progress towards a better life for all.
